FINALS, FINALS, FINALS!

by Aug 4, 2023

We are in the home stretch! This is week 13, and there are 15 weeks in each trimester. If you are a student at NUHS, then you already know the deal. As each trimester ends, I feel less nervous and more nostalgic. When we start our programs at NUHS it seems like a constant uphill trek. My close friend is graduating, and she is the Valedictorian of the AOM program. I am so proud of her my heart could just burst. I understand firsthand how rigorous the AOM program is, and she completed the ND program as well. She also passed her boards for that degree last year this time.

I am in a celebratory mood although finals are right around the corner. But I am seeing that finishing strong is possible. I don’t think I am in the running for valedictorian, but I am still proud of myself. This is growth for me usually I am a nervous wreck, and I am second guessing myself. I feel confident heading into finals not that I have it all together but if I made it this far, I must be doing some things right. I am grateful for my classmates. I am grateful for my friend who is graduating. Each encounter at NUHS with students, staff, and faculty has helped me to grow in ways that I never imagined. My hope is that as students we can take a moment and reflect on how far we have come and give ourselves a round of applause.

Monique Carter

My name is Monique Carter and I am a student in National University's AOM program. I chose this program because the basic tenets of Chinese Acupuncture and Herbs align with a holistic healing process that is steeped in years of tradition and research. I anticipate that learning these skills and applying this knowledge will allow me to help many in need. Starting this journey at the age of 49 has been humbling as well as life-changing, I am excited and grateful!
