Two National University of Health Sciences doctor of chiropractic program faculty members presented peer-reviewed posters at the international 15th World Federation of Chiropractic Biennial Congress Convention in Berlin, Germany, and Association of Chiropractic Colleges (ACC) ACC-RAC conference in Baltimore, Md., in March.

Manuel Duarte, DC, presented “Chiropractic Treatment Variation by Clinicians Within a Randomized Clinical Trial” at the World Federation conference March 20-23. The conference brought together leaders in the fields of education, research, sports and clinical practice from around the world to discuss issues relevant to the future development and expansion of the chiropractic profession worldwide.

Dr. Duarte was greeted by former NUHS students now practicing around the world, as well as doctors that attended lectures he gave in Israel, the Netherlands, South Korea and Canada. The poster presentation was well received and generated many ideas and discussion concerning future research. Jerrilyn Cambron, Dean, College of Allied Health Sciences and Distance Education, provided research review, collaboration and assistance for this accomplishment.

An informational poster developed by National University of Health Sciences faculty member Dana Madigan, DC, and student Haley Doherty was also selected in a peer-review process for presentation at ACC-RAC March 14-16. The meeting is designed to meet the needs of the chiropractic academic and research community, and provides a platform for discussion of educational, scholarly and research-related enterprises.

Dr. Madigan and Doherty chose the topic “Outcome Measures in Public Health Service Programs” because NUHS students often discuss becoming part of national public health service programs. “We thought this conversation would be enhanced by exploring more regarding the mission of these organizations and how different health professions meet those needs,” said Dr. Madigan, adding, “We wanted them to focus on improving patient and population health outcomes.” Dr. Madigan presented the poster at the conference, and they plan to continue work on this project based on the positive feedback received there.
