NUHS alumnus Brian Emrys, DC, LAc, MSOM, ‘21, was recently appointed to the Michigan Board of Acupuncture. The board, which includes seven acupuncturists, three physicians, and three public members, oversees the practice of licensed acupuncturists in the state.
NUHS Graduate Dr. Sarah Montesa brings the comforting effects of acupuncture to end-of-life patients
NUHS Graduate Sarah Montesa, DC, MSAc., (‘20, ‘19) is making strides toward bringing acupuncture to more end-of-life care patients. As a certified provider of end-of-life care from the National Association of Hospice and Palliative Care Acupuncturists, Dr. Montesa has been providing in-home acupuncture services to help palliative care patients feel more comfortable and obtain a better quality of life. She has also started to work with local hospice organizations with the goal of forming partnerships and finding ways to integrate acupuncture and tuina into their models of care.
NUHS grad Dr. Kowalski appointed Instructor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School
Matthew Kowalski, DC, a 1990 graduate from National University, has recently been appointed as an Instructor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School. He is also Associate Clinical Director at the Osher Clinical Center, a joint venture between Harvard Medical School and Brigham and Women’s Hospital.
NUHS Florida student to be fifth generation chiropractic physician
Carter West, a new chiropractic student at National University’s Florida-site, will be the fifth generation of his family to enter the field of chiropractic medicine. His family has had successful careers in chiropractic medicine since his great-great-grandfather graduated from National in 1916. Each generation has practiced in Idaho ever since.
