President Joseph Stiefel, MS, EdD, DC, hosted the annual Thanksgiving reception in the front lobby of Janse Hall this morning. The event helps kick start the holiday season, bringing faculty, staff and students together to enjoy a breakfast of bagels, yogurt parfaits and apple cider.
The tradition started in 1992 with previous NUHS President James Winterstein, DC, DACBR. Dr. Stiefel has continued the tradition, which allows him to meet and greet current students along with faculty and staff.
“The reception is a great opportunity to celebrate the upcoming holiday with the university community and get into the holiday spirit,” Dr. Stiefel said.
For the first time this year, the event featured raffle prizes. Each attendee had a chance to win five different prize bundles that include campus store gift cards and various NUHS merchandise. Winners will be contacted via phone number to collect their prize.
Dan Cano, a first trimester chiropractic medicine student, said the event is a welcome break from classes and studying. “We all have busy schedules, here we get a chance to slow down and talk.”
Spencer Brauchla, a fourth trimester chiropractic medicine student, appreciates meeting new students at the event. “It’s a chance to interact with people I don’t normally see.”
