Winter weather can bring on a whole slew of challenges, particularly when heavy snowfall requires repeated shoveling of driveways and sidewalks. No matter what your age, it’s important to make sure to perform these tasks correctly.

To help you avoid potential injury, National University’s recent 2016 Doctor of Chiropractic graduates Kristen Nelson and Joel Whalen created a video with a list of healthy tips to follow when shoveling.

Whalen discusses how to find the right shovel and the stretches to perform to prevent injury while shoveling. Nelson showcases the proper shoveling techniques, which include pushing snow and not lifting it, bending at the knees, using your feet to turn along with a list of motions to avoid.

For a full list of tips watch the video below and stay safe this winter season.
