What happened to September?

Does anyone else feel like just yesterday it was the middle of July? This trimester has by far been the busiest for me and it is flying by. Suddenly we’re already four weeks in and its all been a blur of new information and adjustments. We move at a pretty quick pace through our curriculum here in the chiropractic program, so I have been spending quite a bit of time the last few weeks making sure I am not falling behind on the material. That being said, this weekend I allowed myself some time to enjoy myself before being hit with the first round of exams.

On Friday night, we had this trimester’s Tri-Mixer. This is an event where all the students here at NUHS–Florida meet up at a bar in downtown St. Pete and have a chance to get to know each other away from campus. It’s a great opportunity for the upper trimester students–who are always at the other campus–to meet the newer students. The evening features catered food and is always a great time!

This year I wasn’t able to stay late for the Tri-Mixer because my girlfriend and I were running a 15K challenge race the next morning. My Saturday started at 5:15 a.m., as we got ready to head to the second annual PB&J run up in Clearwater. I had a blast at the race and even though I didn’t run my fastest splits (I was focusing on pace maintenance to goal set for a half marathon), I still ended up placing fourth in my age group for the 10K portion. I missed the podium by 15 seconds, which stung just a little bit, because I certainly could’ve gone faster. Next year I’ll get it!

The next few weeks are going to be crazy busy down here in Florida, with a few big events, tests, and conference to attend, but I look forward to filling you all in with my next post!!
