Student athletes can now enjoy enhanced sports physicals that will give them a taste of what it’s like to be an elite athlete. The community program will be held on Monday, May 21st, from 3pm to 7pm at National University of Health Sciences in Lombard.
Families can make an appointment for their child to receive a sports physical examination from Sean Rardin, MD, for only $30 that will clear them to play school sports. In addition, each young athlete will receive a chiropractic sports performance evaluation as well as an individualized training plan to improve their sports performance. The student will also receive a naturopathic nutrition assessment and receive a personal nutrition plan for improved athletic performance.
“In addition to making a sports physical as affordable as possible for a wide number of community residents, our sports physical program will give young athletes an experience similar to what an elite college or professional athlete receives,” says Dr. David Parish, dean of clinics for National University.
Many clinicians, interns and faculty at the NUHS Whole Health Center in Lombard have extensive training in sports medicine and sports nutrition, and have served as physicians for college, Olympic and professional sports teams. “The program will offer young athletes tools to help them reach their personal best in an effective, natural and healthy way, and hopefully reinforce health strategies they can maintain for life,” says Dr. Parish.
