National University of Heath Sciences (NUHS) is now partnering with Elmhurst College for an Advanced Scholar Program that nuhs student in lrcgives students a faster track to completing a doctor of chiropractic degree. The program will offer qualified students accelerated completion of both a bachelor of science and doctor of chiropractic degree in just seven academic years as opposed to eight.

The new collaboration between Elmhurst College and NUHS will create joint recruitment, dual admission, and a coordinated curriculum and support structure for exceptional students who have maintained a 3.5 GPA or higher in Elmhurst College’s bachelor of science in health science technology program.

Under the provisions of the program, students will spend their first three years of study at Elmhurst College, completing a minimum of 90 semester credits leading toward the bachelor of science in health science technology. Qualified students will then start their four-year DC program at NUHS. After successful completion of all course work in the first three trimesters at NUHS, they will be granted their B.S. degree from Elmhurst College.

“The Advanced Scholars Program is a powerful combination of Elmhurst College’s undergraduate academics and National University’s professional preparation, allowing qualified students an opportunity to streamline their education and get into the work force faster,” said Cheryl Leoni, director of the Elmhurst College Center for the Health Professions. “We are excited to offer this new opportunity for our students interested in pursuing a chiropractic degree.”

“The program saves students not only one year of coursework, but also a year of tuition costs and fees,” says Victoria Sweeney, director of admissions at National University. “Many Elmhurst College students have chosen National University for graduate degrees in health care over the years, as both schools are located in the western suburbs of Chicago, and offer strong health science programs.  We hope this new agreement helps more Elmhurst College students start rewarding careers in chiropractic medicine.”
