It’s finals week!! Yay? Although it means the end of the trimester with four practical exams last week and eight lecture exams in the next four days it’s hard to get excited for break just yet. So far, my grades have been pretty good which takes a little bit of stress for these upcoming written exams, which has been a relief.

Of my classes, finishing my anatomy lab with Dr. Pearlstein is most bittersweet. Not only will I no longer have an excuse to wear my scrubs, but I will miss being able to dive inside human anatomy–it was such an incredible experience. I learned so much about our bodies by finding anomalies, separating structures, removing cancerous masses, and so much more! I feel very lucky to have had the opportunity to learn anatomy this way and will remember it throughout my career.

Our last sports council meeting happened a few weeks ago and it was a successful end to the trimester. We presented a mock case study for a shoulder injury (SLAP tear) to several of our professors and asked them to respond and attend a panel discussion. We had the largest student turnout of the trimester and our instructors helped facilitate a very interesting discussion on evaluation and treatment of patients with this sort of injury.

As an added bonus, we had a professor and student had SLAP tears of their own! Luckily for us, they allowed most of the attendees to practice shoulder evaluations as the panel had discussed, providing a unique clinical portion to the sports council meeting. I am looking forward to next trimester’s events; we are already planning a schedule of meetings and are going to bring some new and exciting content to our peers!

Once finals are done most of us students here are going to attend the Florida Chiropractic Association conference in Orlando next weekend. I am looking forward to experiencing my first professional conference and will provide plenty of pictures and information about the event in my first post next trimester.
