Happy July 4th!

by Jul 12, 2019

I hope that everyone had a safe and happy 4th of July holiday! Mine was certainly a busy one. My mom was able to come out for a visit and spent most of the week here in Florida. To top it off, I ran a couple of races this week, which made for a challenge, but it was fun.

My mom flew out for a visit from Albuquerque, New Mexico for a few days of hanging out and celebrating the holiday. We spent some time exploring and were able to enjoy some beautiful Florida sunsets. We had some delicious meals, but my favorite was a local caught Grouper sandwich from Crabby Bills. We eat here almost every time my mom is in town; it’s an awesome place and is right across the street from the beach, and a great place for dinner on a visit.

On Wednesday we ran a 5K race starting at midnight into the 4th of July! It was a crazy cool experience, but definitely a hard run, especially finishing up at almost 1 a.m.! After the race we rested up and went out to enjoy downtown St. Pete for the holiday festivities. We brewery hopped for a little bit, and then watched the fireworks at Vinoy Park. It was a great end to a fun visit with my mom.

To close out the holiday weekend, I ran another race in Tampa! This one was a 10K at Al Lopez Park; it was a brutal race. The weird thing with Florida is that it will be 88 degrees F, but the 90% humidity makes it feel like 102 degrees F! Certainly makes for very challenging run conditions. I enjoyed my free time this weekend and being able to catch up on some relaxation.

Personal Thoughts on Making a Difference

When I first entered chiropractic school, I believed that what we did was adjust and treat spinal conditions. However, chiropractic care is so much more than any individual aspect of care; it is an ideology of wholistic health care not driven from the treatment of illnesses, but actually aligning all aspects of life with the ultimate goal of health and preventive care.
