This week had a slightly lighter study load than the previous couple of weeks, so I took some time to enjoy the festivities that Tampa Bay has to offer. Almost every weekend you can find an event celebrating art, music, beer, tacos, French fries, and so much more.

Last week my family came to town for a long weekend; it was so nice to have them visiting! We watched sunset each night at the Treasure Island Beach and enjoyed local music, art, and beer at the Dunedin Craft Beer Festival. One of my favorite local bands (Jerkio Turnpike) was playing the main set, and they put on a fantastic show, as always. I was very excited to hang out with my family all weekend and am bummed they couldn’t stay longer, but I can’t wait to be home in just a few more weeks after finals!

This weekend I went to the Strawberry Festival in Plant City. This event is a huge fair about an hour from us here in Pinellas Park, and often times attracts some pretty big names for their concert lineups.

My girlfriend and I had a blast and always enjoy finding the unhealthiest snack to try. This year’s challenge was a Strawberry Krispy Kreme Donut Bacon Cheeseburger…my arteries are still recovering.

My favorite part of the Strawberry Festival each year is purchasing palates of strawberries for cheap! The farmers sell directly to ticket holders from the side of the road, and it comes out to about $8-10 for 12 pounds of strawberries. This time around I am going to try and make a jam out of some of them, we’ll see how it turns out!
