Always on the Run

by Mar 6, 2020

It is race season here in Florida and I couldn’t be happier! I have chosen as a 2020 goal of mine to try and attempt completing 20 races, be they weekend road races, obstacle course races, or an open water swim. While it may not seem like too many, 20 races equals about one race every two weeks, without much wiggle room to miss a weekend. It also means I have been spending a good chunk of my free time training–working on my running endurance and gait all while trying to fight off injuries that have begun to develop.

The spring season is the busiest time for races and I foolishly signed up for five races over a four-weekend period…the last two weeks were my first two back to back and so far so good! I completed the Publix Gasparilla 5K last weekend and the Skyway 10K Challenge this weekend. Both were phenomenal races, tons of fun, and I was able to maintain my goals for both of the races.

My favorite race so far this year has been the Skyway 10K Challenge as they close down the famous Tampa Bay Skyway Bridge in order for us to run over its entire length. While it was a very early and chilly morning (48 degrees is cold in Florida), it was a beautiful race day with an incredible sunrise!

It is always a great time getting out and enjoying some of the many activities here in the Tampa Bay area. School and clinic can sometimes be a little challenging, but finding a good healthy balance really makes the chiropractic program here at NUHS-FLORIDA very rewarding!

As always, if you have any questions, please email me at [email protected].

Personal Thoughts on Making a Difference

When I first entered chiropractic school, I believed that what we did was adjust and treat spinal conditions. However, chiropractic care is so much more than any individual aspect of care; it is an ideology of wholistic health care not driven from the treatment of illnesses, but actually aligning all aspects of life with the ultimate goal of health and preventive care.
