Ziplining Through Memorial Day

One of the best parts of attending the Florida campus, on top of our incredible staff and professors who make it all possible, is really just our location. On top of being right by the beach, we are also just a couple hours away from Florida’s canyons.

While this may come as a surprise to many of you, who only know Florida as a flat terrain, there are actually cliffs just two hours north in Ocala. Sarah and I took a day trip out on Saturday and were able to zipline on Florida’s largest and fastest ziplines all throughout the trees and throughout the canyons. At the highest point, we were 130 feet off the ground and went over 50 miles per hour! It was a truly unique and beautiful landscape and an exhilarating tour of one of Florida’s hidden gems. Life as a student is of course, immensely stressful, and makes the need for downtime and fun all the more necessary. I hope you can all get a chance to go ziplining soon, because it was an amazing experience.

Entering week four I already feel like this trimester is flying by us, but I feel like I am really getting into the flow of clinic. While we do not yet have our own patients, we have continued our shadowing of upper tri interns as well as starting to take more active roles in patient care and note taking. Finally interacting and treating real patients is both eye opening and providing a clear view into my own future as a physician. I couldn’t begin to express my appreciation for Dr. Bejarano’s hard work as we all continue to learn new systems and figure out how best to serve our community. Clinic is really tying up all our classroom work and giving us the confidence to practice once we graduate. I look forward to sharing whatever fun learning opportunities this trimester brings.
