National University of Health Sciences has been selected to host the 2019 Student American Chiropractic Association (SACA) Leadership Conference, September 6-8, at its Lombard, Ill., campus. The theme is “Excellence is Our Standard.”
The American Chiropractic Association’s Leadership Conference Planning Committee noted that they were “extremely impressed with the detailed information…provided about the conference theme, goals and logistics.” They also cited “tremendous support” from NUHS President Joseph Stiefel, the chapter’s faculty advisor Dr. Dana Madigan and university administrators.
“We want to build on students’ desire to be leaders with excellence as the standard in patient-centered, collaborative, evidence-based care,” NUHS SACA Student Chair Ben LaGard explained. Amanda Leonard and Alli Totzke are Student Co-chairs for the conference.
Approximately 150 students elected to SACA positions at colleges and universities throughout the U.S. are expected to attend. Among the goals for the conference are for students to make professional connections with fellow students and future colleagues, learn about career paths and practice options, strengthen their advocacy for the profession, and build collaborative skills.
The NUHS students learned about their selection at the ACA’s National Chiropractic Leadership Conference (NCLC) in Washington, D.C., January 16-19, where they also visited congressional offices to advocate for the chiropractic profession.
