Each year Veterans Day offers a special opportunity for Americans to reflect upon and appreciate our service men and women, and over the years, National University of Health Sciences (NUHS) has dedicated varied resources to assist veterans in health care and more.
“We take making a difference in the lives of U.S. veterans very seriously,” said Joseph Stiefel, M.S., Ed.D., D.C. and president of National University. “We are proud of our tradition to serve our military men and women.”
Individualized, holistic care for veterans may take many forms, including lifestyle and nutrition education, non-pharmaceutical solutions such as hydrotherapy and acupuncture, and other non-invasive treatments such as chiropractic adjustment, herbal supplements, and massage therapy. Since 2009, the Lombard, Illinois Veterans Clinic has provided natural treatments for a variety of conditions affecting veterans, and in September of this year, NUHS opened a second Veterans Clinic at its Whole Health Center in Pinellas Park, Florida. Both clinics specialize in treating disorders affecting combat veterans such as: post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), addiction, anxiety, chronic pain, insomnia, flashbacks, musculoskeletal injuries, and more, offering natural and drug-free health options.
Veterans at both locations receive acupuncture at no charge, and a 20 percent discount on all other services. Acupuncture services are free of charge to veterans through the generous sponsorship of China-Gel®.
The NUHS clinics have treated veterans from World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, the Gulf War, and more recent conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. In Lombard, the clinic hallway boasts a display board featuring photos and branch of service mementos from grateful veterans who have been helped by the PTSD treatment they received.
