Immerse Yourself

by Aug 20, 2021

Lately the weather in Lombard has been quite rainy and stormy. So finally, when the weather was cooperative, I took a drive downtown to visit Chinatown. My main goal was to pick up a few raw herbs and a few products we discussed in our Herbal Patent Medicine class, plus to walk around a little. My first stop was at the herbal shop, where I purchased a few classic herbs like dang gui, rou gui, zhi gan cao and a few others. Bit by bit, my personal herb collection is growing. The more I immerse myself in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and herbology, the more connections I am able to make. It is said that it takes 50 years to become a master herbalist…so I have two down and 48 more to go!

Chicago’s Chinatown.

Although the time commitment from the program is vast. I believe it is equally as important to enjoy the journey. Enjoying the journey to me means creating a balance between work, school and student life. It means taking advantage of all that the Chicagoland area has to offer. As we enter week 15 of the trimester, plus a week full of exams, try to make plans for yourself that create balance.
