Here’s to Tri 7 & My Birthday

Friday, January 17, 2025

I can’t believe I am saying this but it is already the end of the first week of Tri 7! I hope everyone had a healthy and refreshing break and was able to spend the holidays with their loved ones. With this week’s passing, I have officially started my final trimester before entering clinic and even more exciting, celebrated my 24th birthday! I can already tell this is going to be a jampacked next few months filled with all kinds of learning and studying but I couldn’t be more excited or happy to look toward the future. This first week has given me a clear picture of the challenges that lay ahead of me, all of which I consider a privilege to be given as they are an opportunity to rise to the occasion. Stresses and challenges are what makes us grow and discover just how far we can push ourselves in the pursuit of our dreams.

While this blog is primarily about life as a student, I try to remind my readers from time-to-time that like everything, balance is essential and with that includes my endeavors outside of being a student. This weekend, this included my birthday celebration. For the first time since starting this program, I was actually able to spend it with my fiancé, Sarah. On Friday night, she surprised me with a homemade dinner with freshly baked from scratch desserts of her own creation. Additionally, the next night she took me out to dinner at Sacred Pepper, and we had some of the best food I had ever tasted. Along with that dinner, my family also chipped in together and bought me a home cold plunge so that every morning I could start out with a healthy routine for both the body and the mind. If I haven’t made it clear, this was a birthday to remember! These are just some of the small examples of how my loved ones support me and I truly couldn’t be where I am today without all of them. So, while we are all getting back into the swing of things, and our mental capacity is being soaked up by school, remember to thank those around you for helping you succeed, and remember school is just one facet of our lives.

I can’t wait to continue writing these posts and keep you up to date on my path as we head into the home stretch here at NUHS!
