A team of NUHS-Florida students and faculty participated in the Seminole Kiwanis Club Fire Truck Pull on March 15. The eighth annual event raises scholarship money awarded to college bound seniors living in the Seminole area. This year, the Kiwanis were able to give over $16,000 in scholarships thanks to events such as the Fire Truck Pull.

The “NUHS Firebrands” won at pulling a fire truck 100 feet, beating their opponents by 15 seconds. The team prepared for the pull by studying “tug-of-war” strategies and best practices from various videos. Our champions brought home t-shirts, medals, a trophy, and that special pride that comes with actually moving a 38,000-pound fire truck!

Dr. Jaya Prakash, NUHS professor and also a member of the Seminole Kiwanis Club, coordinated National University’s participation in this year’s event.

NUHS is proud to foster a tradition of community service in its students, and contribute to the Tampa Bay community.
