While entering clinic has felt like entering the final stretch of my educational journey, it by no means has meant a reduction of course load or stress!
Divide & Conquer
I have been balancing the demands of student clinic, while still taking difficult classes such as neuroendocrinology and dermatology, and even prepping for board exams; It is certainly enough to leave me feeling overwhelmed. Having just registered for the physiotherapy board exam next month and Part IV board exam in November, I have made a clear plan of how to divide my available study time. As anyone in this program knows, it is essential to plan ahead in order to ensure adequate preparation for each board exam and class.
While all of this sounds negative, I want to actually stress the exact opposite! Clinic has continued to ramp up and I feel like my ability to interact with and treat patients is improving every day. Additionally, my competence with our Athena EHR software is also improving, a surprisingly difficult task for those not already aware. I have really enjoyed meeting new patients and being given the opportunity to help them in their care, and actually improve their quality of life through chiropractic care.
Our Future as Chiropractic Physicians
Clinic is truly a taste of our future career as physicians, and it has only strengthened my resolve and my choice to settle on this path in life. I would be lying if I didn’t say I can’t wait to finish classes and be in clinic full time, or to finish these board exams, but I also know all of the hard work and studying will be more than worth it.
