As I finish my third trimester of chiropractic school, I recently had the opportunity to attend “The National,” hosted by the Florida Chiropractic Association, in Orlando, Florida. Known as the largest chiropractic event in the United States, the conference brings together chiropractic physicians, students, educators and industry professionals from across the country.

The Benefits

While the educational sessions and hands-on opportunities were valuable, one of the biggest benefits I experienced was the opportunity to make connections. As students, it is easy to become focused on exams, practicals and everything happening inside the classroom. Attending a conference provides an opportunity to step outside of that environment and connect with people who are already practicing in the profession we are working toward joining.

Professional Networking

You never know where a simple conversation may lead. During the conference, I had the opportunity to speak with several chiropractors and make connections that could benefit me in the future. I was even encouraged to reach out about a potential chiropractic preceptorship for my final trimester of school.

Whether you are just beginning chiropractic school or preparing for graduation, there is value in attending professional conferences. Beyond the education, these events provide opportunities to network, learn from others’ experiences, and begin building relationships within the profession long before graduation.
