Let me start by saying the Post-Grad Department at National University is amazing! They host some great events for alumni and local doctors that provide some of the required continuing education credit requirements for maintaining licensure. And, they offer a discounted rate for current students, which is greatly appreciated.

A couple of weeks ago, they hosted a conference on autoimmunity and had some awesome speakers present! I was able to attend and learned a ton. I love it when I am able to learn new information, skills, and techniques that I know will help my future patients. I love it even more when I am able to apply it to my life, and it is able to help me on my own personal health journey.

This most recent weekend, I was able to attend a seminar off campus on the Nasal Release Technique. It is helpful in treating individuals that have had concussions, headaches, breathing difficulties, as well as many others. I have personally suffered from severe migraine headaches since I was 4 years old (which is super rare for a child to have them).

I have also had multiple concussions, and severe TMJ dysfunction and pain that required surgical intervention (which was unsuccessful) when I was 16. After only three treatments of the Nasal Release Technique, my jaw pain is completely gone, and I haven’t had a migraine in over a week! We also learned that Dr. Joseph Janse (former President of NUHS; one of our largest buildings is named after him) was one of the early practitioners of this technique, which is pretty cool!

My name is Belinda, but I prefer to go by Lindy. I am in my final year as a Naturopathic Medical student at National University of Health Sciences. I’m originally from Maryland and will always consider it to be my home. I live on campus, in the Bucholz building with my dog, Lily. I love the sport of triathlon and will totally geek out if anyone wants to talk bikes or racing with me! I’m looking forward to blogging about study tips, ways to have fun on campus, and all the details of a full-time medical student. I love talking with people, so if you have any questions please email me at [email protected]
