The Pinellas Park Medical District (PPMD) is a key community organization that National University of Health Sciences (NUHS) participates in through its Florida site. In fact, Dr. Daniel Strauss, NUHS dean for the College of Professional Studies in Florida, is chairman of the PPMD.

Recently, the PPMD was given top honors in the category of Public Education at the 22nd Annual Future of the Region award ceremony held by the Tampa Bay Regional Planning Council.

Speaking on behalf of the PPMD, Dr. Strauss said: “This award is so meaningful to us. It honors a collaborative effort on the part of our three founding partners, the City of Pinellas Park, St. Petersburg College/Caruth Health Education Center, and the Pinellas Park/Gateway Chamber of Commerce.”

“Our goal is to strengthen the health care system in our community through medical business development, student enrollment in health care education, and development of employment opportunities for those students graduating in the health care field with leading edge skills and knowledge.”

NUHS students in the DC program have participated in several PPMD events and health fairs, bringing health and wellness education to residents of the Pinellas Park community, and promoting careers in health care.
