NUHS Joins Local Church for Community Health Fair

Interns from National University of Health Sciences and their faculty clinician, Dr. Grant Iannelli, will provide several free health services at an upcoming Community Health Fair sponsored by Calvary Episcopal Church in Lombard.  The fair will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2012,from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at the church, which is in downtown Lombard at 105 West Maple.

In addition to the chiropractic medicine team from NUHS, there will be  hearing and vision testing from the Lions’ Mobile Health Truck, as well as a representative from the Northern Illinois Food Bank who will provide information an application assistance for SNAP (food stamp program). The church will also have members and leaders present to offer prayer and spiritual counseling.

“The church has assembled health resources as well as resources for food and spiritual assistance as a way to help local families,” says Dr. Iannelli, who is also a member of Calvary Episcopal Church. “We realized that our nation’s economic challenges have affected many local families, and we want to be sure they have access to key health screening, nutritional resources and spiritual support.”

Dr. Iannelli and his chiropractic interns will offer the following free services at
the fair:

  • Blood Pressure Check
  • Heart / Lung Exam
  • Spine and Joint Exam
  • Foot Exam
  • Cholesterol and Blood Glucose Tests

National University has a tradition of outreach and community service, especially in efforts that bring medical care to the underserved.
