It’s a minor and also major milestone here at National University as Week 7 arrives. We’ve completed our first round of midterms. After weeks of lectures, labs and late-night study sessions, there is a collective sigh of relief and regrouping in the air.
Taking Time to Regroup
As a naturopathic medicine (ND) student, I had the opportunity to take a break from my studies this weekend and spend some time with some of my amazing peers from the chiropractic medicine (DC) program. We came together for a cozy, creative pause, betting on pumpkin seed counts, decorating and holding conversation about the broader picture of why we’re here. Amidst paint and glitter and laughter, our group shared about our hopes for our professions and ways we can provide spaces for opening up dialogue, collaboration and education on what we do.
It’s easy to get lost in exam and coursework rigor, but moments like these are a reminder that community and conversation are just as important for our growth as textbooks and labs. The more we share what we’re learning, and the values behind our work, the more we can invite others into these healing spaces that we are so passionate about building.
Here’s to the second half of the trimester and finding more time to create, connect and converse!
