From personal experience, dealing with a physical injury can not only be challenging in its limitations, but also the mental strain and load it can deliver. For most people, struggling with either an acute or especially a chronic injury can be a period of uncertainty, not knowing how they will manage to cope while doing everything they can to limit its impact on the rest of their life. I know because this was me. What I didn’t know, what just how much I can make a difference. Prior to formal chiropractic training, I was naïve to the vast number of options in the umbrella of chiropractic care treatments and how they would influence my outlook on future patient care. I have learned so much about every system of the body and how intertwined they all are!
I knew going into this field that I wanted to make a difference in people’s health and lives, and I knew this was possible. What I didn’t know, was the scale this could be grown to. With the knowledge I’ve been instilled with, and in an age of social media, patient education can be a top priority with vast outreach. We make life changing differences in those we treat, and I feel the need to ensure no one is left unheard or ignored.
So, what has chiropractic has taught me about myself? I am the change that has to be made in a pharmacological, financially-driven world. I am part of the generation of new chiropractors who can flip the view of health care 180 degrees and take substantial strides toward a better future.
