Here’s to kicking off another exciting trimester! It’s hard to believe we’re already three weeks in. Between juggling school, work and the everyday grind of adult responsibilities, I often find myself buried under a mountain of to-do lists.
During our recent break, I took a quick trip to Florida with a few of my closest friends. Picture this: seven high school buddies reuniting after three years, blending just the right mix of fun and meaningful conversations. One evening, as we sat on the beach watching the sunset, I found myself reflecting in the silence. I whispered, “Isn’t it wild that this happens every day, yet we’re so caught up in our lives that we often miss it?” This simple observation sparked deeper thoughts about mindfulness and self-care.
As students, we tend to be so focused on the next task that we often neglect self-care. We push ourselves to study just a bit longer or spend hours rewriting notes, but forget to take care of our well-being. Self-care can be as simple as cooking a nutritious meal instead of grabbing takeout, taking breaks to move our bodies and refresh our minds, or even just getting to bed 30 minutes earlier for extra rest. It’s not always easy, but I challenge both you and me to find small, meaningful ways to care for ourselves. Our bodies deserve a thank you for all they do for us—let’s make sure we show them some love in return!
