National University of Health Sciences’ business program ensures that you graduate ready to succeed in today’s health care marketplace. Learn the basics of running a business and also the nuanced aspects of how to start, manage, and grow it.
The Acupuncture business curriculum builds on each previous class. As you go, you will gain a well-rounded education into the many small details that go into running an acupuncture practice. Learn skills like:
- Patient and business management
- Business Marketing
- Developing marketing and business plans
- Addressing liability and contract issues
- Evaluating personal and professional insurance needs
- Provider / patient communications
Business Skills When You Graduate
Unlike acupuncture practitioners of the past who might have had to learn how to run a business on their own, NUHS students will have a comprehensive set of business skills the moment they graduate.
While many new acupuncture practitioners join existing practices as associates in order to learn how to properly run a business, NUHS grads will be prepared to open their practices right away and fast track their careers to a higher level of income!
Acupuncture Business Coursework
In this series, students will learn various aspects of patient management, business management, practice ethics and proper patient referrals to other health care providers. With each successive course in the series, the depth and scope of these topics will be expanded.
Students will learn marketing concepts for their practice, including: preparation of a comprehensive marketing plan, as well as a separate business plan. Additionally, the informed consent process, successful staff interviewing techniques, vicarious liability and independent contract issues, record keeping requirements, how to create an effective referral network, and professional insurance needs are integral parts of the coursework.
Ethics and risk management considerations regarding health care provider’s duties, responsibilities, and professional standards of care are highlighted. Additional topics specific to the acupuncture practitioner’s
duties regarding vicarious liability, independent contract relationships, and the elements of successful communication skills in provider/patient relationships are presented.
