The Bachelor of Biomedical Sciences Program at National University

A Bachelor of Biomedical Sciences Degree is an excellent preparation for an advanced degree such as a Doctor of Chiropractic (DC), Doctor of Naturopathy (ND), MD, DO, Master’s in nursing, nutrition, or public health, or a degree in dentistry, optometry or other health care specialty. It is also an excellent way to advance your career in science education, nursing, laboratory or research assistance, nutrition, or allied health services.

Our Biomedical Sciences Curriculum

The 124-credit-hour Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences Program provides a solid foundation in the basic sciences in both an in-person and online format in courses such as microbiology, physiology, chemistry, biochemistry, physics, and anatomy. There are also medical school courses such as pathology, nutrition, immunology, epidemiology, and pharmacology. There are no required core courses, just a requirement that you earn 64 of the 124 credits at National University.

Earn an Emphasis in Nutrition

Help your patients improve their health through better food choices. As a chiropractic or naturopathic physician, dentist, MD, optometrist, nurse, or other healthcare professional, a solid knowledge of nutrition will help you make better diagnoses and provide better care for your patients.

To earn this designation, you’ll need 19 hours of credit in nutrition courses such as:

  • Nutrition in the Life Cycle
  • Nutrition in Health and Disease
  • Food Science
  • Cultural Perspectives of Food
  • Botanicals
  • Advanced Human Nutrition
