Alumni and Development Coordinator
Job Summary
The Alumni & Development Coordinator supports the mission of the institution, while providing oversight and leadership in all areas of alumni, development, and stewardship services.
The Coordinator provides support through activities to engage and involve NUHS alumni, students, employees, and the NUHS community in meaningful ways. This individual must be able to communicate, interact and organize effectively in order to build these mutually beneficial relationships. Under the supervision of the Vice President, the qualified individual oversees the day-to-day management of the department.
Responsibilities
Essential Duties:
• Manage relationships with current and prospective donors, while bolstering alumni membership and researching ways to bring in additional funds.
• Work with outside organizations to foster corporate sponsorship opportunities.
• Oversee the NUHS Mentor program which includes:
- Assist with developing a strategic communication and outreach plan with Mentor members.
- Identifying alumni members who support the mission, profession and NUHS as a whole, to join the Mentor program.
- Visit alums to strengthen relationships and solicit donations.
- Maintaining the Alumni Mentor database of current members.
- Collaborate with the Communications Department to provide media content regarding alumni events, foster alumni engagement through social media and promote social/business alumni events.
• Assist with the production of newsletters, magazines, marketplace, social media posts and other communications with alumni and friends of the university including but not limited to: NUHS alumni and/or development publications, correspondence, and fundraising campaigns.
• Generate a variety of materials for the Alumni & Development Department including billing, receipts, donation reminders, year-end tax letters, regular and special reports, etc.
• Communicate with alumni members for various reasons; to update address, solicit funds, outreach opportunities, etc.
• Oversee alumni and development records, to ensure accurate addresses, gifts and areas of specialty are recorded in the records management system.
• Assist and represent the department with special events such as Homecoming, state conventions, capital campaign events, etc.
• Stay abreast of trends in philanthropy, development, alumni engagement, etc.
• Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree
• 1-3 years’ work experience in a similar office environment preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong spelling, grammar and editing skills.
• Previous development, fundraising, and event planning experience preferred.
• Positive attitude, excellent problem-solving skills, and ability to work under pressure.
• Strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize projects and attention to detail.
• Excellent social media skills.
• Ability to deal effectively with and represent the university to a broad range of individuals and groups within and outside of the university.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office products.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently including researching to make recommendations.
• Occasional travel required.
• Respect for University confidentiality.
Budgeted Salary: $19.23-$20.19/hr
