Hasan Nazik, MD (Turkey)

Assistant Professor, Basic Sciences – Florida

Nazik, HasanHasan Nazik, MD, joined the basic sciences department of the NUHS Florida-site as an assistant professor in 2020.  

Dr. Nazik specializes in medical microbiology and research. He previously served as a visiting scholar/scientist at Stanford University and California Institute for Medical Research, where he mentored visiting students on research procedures and jointly published articles with students. He has also taught microbiology at St. Petersburg College. Before coming to the United States in 2014, he taught medical microbiology at the Istanbul School of Medicine, Istanbul University for nine years.

In research, Dr. Nazik boasts a strong publication record with over 50 articles published in peer-reviewed scientific journals including PLoS ONE, Antimicrob. Agents Chemother, Microbiology and J Microbiol Methods. 

Dr. Nazik earned his Doctor of Medicine from the Cerrahpasa School of Medicine, Istanbul University, Turkey and completed his clinical residency in Medical Microbiology from Istanbul School of Medicine, Istanbul University, Turkey in 2005.   

As a teacher, Dr. Nazik considers engagement, relevance and enthusiasm the three most important features of education.  

“My aim is to introduce students to the colorful world of microbiology, to make the subject popular and to gain knowledge for future career life by using these three important features of education,” he said.   

Outside of NUHS, Dr. Nazik enjoys spending time with his family, biking, playing table tennis and watching the sunrise.
