LRC Receives Major Medical Book Donation
Thursday, July 11, 2019
The office of Illinois Representative Raja
Krishnamoorthi (8th District) assisted the National
University Learning Resource Center (LRC) in obtaining 36 medical
books free from the Library of Congress' Surplus Books
Program.
Russ Iwami, NUHS Reference Librarian, took the lead in applying
for the donation on behalf of the Fox Valley Health Science Library
Consortium, which represents a group of medical libraries in the
area. The Consortium requested medical books relevant to medical
doctors, nurses or complementary medicine practitioners.
"This allowed us to get not only books that we wanted, but
materials that complement our collection that we would not
otherwise be able to obtain within our budget," Iwami noted. The
donation is the first of an expected delivery of materials several
times a year through the Surplus Books Program.
