BNMSA help students prepare for licensing exams with Hack the Boards event

Earlier this month, the NUHS Black Naturopathic Medicine Student Association (BNMSA) hosted a Hack the Boards event to help students prepare for board exams. Students must pass the exams to become licensed naturopathic physicians.

During the event, a panel of BNMSA members who have taken the board exams discussed their study techniques and answered questions from students. They also shared study timelines and resources like books and study guides.

BNMSA Secretary Tina Barrett said it's important to hear from students who have successfully completed exams because of the valuable study techniques they can provide.

"We don't have to figure it out... what works, what doesn't work; we don't have to reinvent the wheel. We can use tried and true techniques and focus on the important task of preparing to take the boards," Barrett said.

The event was a first for the club but since many students found it helpful BNMSA hopes to host more in the future, possibly with panels that include DC and AOM students. They are also planning other events related to board preparation, like Jeopardy style trivia games and a mock practical in the coming months.

BNMSA's mission is to foster professional development, cultural enrichment, mentorship and scholarship. They meet on the first Friday of every month at noon in room 141 in the Janse Building.
