Dr. Russell Jaffe Speaks on Functional Immunology for NMSA
Tuesday, July 28, 2015
The NUHS chapter of the
Naturopathic Medical Students Association welcomed guest speaker
Dr. Russell Jaffe on July 23, 2015. Dr. Jaffe, accompanied by
former NUHS faculty member Dr. Erica Mennerik, gave a question and
answer presentation on functional immunology.
Dr. Jaffe's approach to immunology relies first and foremost in
removing obstacles to recovery and evoking a healing
response. He introduced specific natural treatment methods
utilizing a very high grade of buffered l-ascorbate (a particular
form of vitamin C), sharing examples of positive patient outcomes
using his recommended protocols. He also explained the most
effective choices for flavonoid and flavenol supplementation.
Students posed questions to Dr. Jaffe regarding the application
of his methods to cancer and autoimmune disorder patients, as well
as questions related to oxidative stress and less optimal
preparations of vitamin C.
After Dr. Jaffe's presentation, Dr. Mennerick discussed how her
applications of several of Dr. Jaffe's principles have helped her
with patient cases that had been unresponsive to previous
interventions. She also spoke to the value of lab testing in
determining potential causes of autoimmune disorders
Dr. Jaffe received his BS, MD, and PhD from the Boston
University School of Medicine. He is board certified in Clinical
Pathology and Chemical Pathology, and has served on the senior
staff of the National Institutes of Health. Starting out wanting to
disprove holistic forms of care, Dr. Jaffe transformed into a
researcher in areas such as Traditional Chinese Medicine,
acupuncture, active meditation, homeopathy, and manipulative arts.
He has received numerous awards such as the Merck, Shark & Dohm
Excellence in Research Award, the J.D. Lane Award, and the
U.S.P.H.S. Meritorious Service Award. He is the founder of
Perque Integrative Health.
