National
University naturopathic medicine student, Darius Lembert, recently
co-authored an article published in the Medical Science Monitor, an
international medical journal for experimental and clinical
research. The article, titled "A
descriptive analysis of abnormal postural patterns in children with
hemiplegic cerebral palsy," included co-authors Dr. Malgorzata
E. Domagalska, who is on the physiotherapy faculty of the Medical
University of Silesia in Katowice, Poland, and Andrej J. Szopa,
currently a physical therapist in Chicago.
Darius is originally from Silesia in Poland, where he went to
medical school and was an instructor in applied kinesiology. He
previously worked with his co-authors while completing a master's
degree. At that time, they conducted research based on
photogrammetric studies on patients with idiopathic scoliosis. The
trio is planning more research together in the future.
After Darius received treatment from a naturopathic physician
who successfully helped him manage severe allergy and autoimmune
problems, he decided to pursue a degree in naturopathic medicine.
"I plan to expand my clinic and serve the Polish community as a
naturopathic physician specializing in functional medicine and
rehabilitation," says Darius, who is currently in his eighth
trimester of ND studies.
