NUHS Docs and Interns Treat Vets at Warrior Summit
Friday, August 26, 2011
Dr. Brian Anderson, clinician from the NUHS Whole Health Center
in Lombard, supervised a group of interns volunteering to provide
chiropractic medical care to those attending the Illinois Warrior
Summit 2011 event at Soldier Field in downtown Chicago on August
23rd. The NUHS group treated almost 100 vets, and DC interns
had a chance to see military personnel with a variety of battle
related injuries.
"The veterans and active military personnel were so thankful for
the treatment provided by the interns," says Dr. Anderson. "The
interns also got valuable experience on how we can effectively
spread the word about our clinic services through community
service."
Assistant Dean for Acpuncture and Oriental Medicine, Dr. Frank
Yurasek, also treated a large number of veterans at the event with
a special
acupuncture protocol shown to provide relief for those suffering
from post-traumatic stress disorder.
