About Me

Photo of Erin EmleyHello! My name is Erin, and I am a Doctor of Chiropractic student at National University of Health Sciences. I entered the program in September 2012 at our Lombard campus and I am currently in the clinical sciences phase of the program.

I'm an outgoing young gal from a small town in Ohio where I grew up being "a big fish in a little pond," as my dad would always say. In high school, I had the opportunity to work for and shadow the person that inspired me to pursue chiropractic, my older brother. The passion he displayed for his craft was contagious, and I quickly realized that a career in the health care field was right for me.

I am a proud graduate of The Ohio State University (Go Buckeyes!), where I earned my Bachelor of Science in Biology, specializing in pre-health sciences. At such a large university with a tremendous medical program, I found myself getting lost in the numbers and commotion of the allopathic medical field. I was forced to reflect on the key components that had inspired me to pursue a career in health care in the first place. With the invaluable experiences I gained from my brother and his practice, combined with a strong interest in alternative medicine and my life-long compassion for helping others, all points lead me to one destination: chiropractic.

My experiences here at National have been irreplaceable. The best supplement to learning inside the classroom has been my involvement in our university's campus life. I am a student ambassador in the admissions office where I give campus tours, serve as a point of contact for prospective students, and help with data entry. I am honored to have been selected as the new president of Student Council for the 2014-2015 school year, and I look forward to representing the students of our university! I am also the current president of our educational sorority, Lambda Chi, which focuses on offering opportunities for female students to perfect their technique and adjusting skills. If you haven't already noticed, I like to keep busy!

In my spare time outside of classes, studying, and activities, I work as a part-time promotional specialist, representing various brands and companies throughout the Chicago area. I also enjoy spending time with friends, crafting the newest Pinterest trend, and going to concerts (especially country music when the weather is nice!).

As a young, single female living far away from her family for the first time, I'm very happy to say that I've finally found a home here at National and in Lombard. Yes, I am your typical "straight-out-of-college" student, so if I can make the transition into a 27-credit-hour doctoral program with a hundred other things on my plate, I'm confident you can too! I'm so excited to serve as a point of contact and hopefully a source of encouragement for anyone considering entering a professional program here at NUHS. I truly love everything I'm learning and doing here in chiropractic school, and nothing would make me happier than to help inspire others!

I look forward to sharing my experiences with you in my weekly blog! Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions. I encourage every one of you to pursue your dreams and follow your bliss!
