Job Summary

Reporting to the Associate Director of Admissions, the Admissions Counselor is charged with the support and achievement of National University of Health Sciences overall enrollment targets while remaining consistent with the University’s mission and annual objectives of the admissions office. The admission counselor will oversee a geographic recruitment territory within United States and US territories while focusing efforts on recruitment to the Illinois campus. The Counselor will conduct activities to support the recruitment of academically qualified and diverse students. Additionally, the Admissions Counselor will conduct large and small group presentations, visit colleges and universities, attend college and pre-health conferences/fairs, and represent NUHS on and off campus. Extensive travel both locally and nationally in the fall and spring is required. Crucially, the Admissions Counselor will communicate regularly with prospects and applicants and conduct admission interviews and shepherd applicants through the committee process. This position works with faculty, staff, alumni, health career advisors, and NUHS students and alums to achieve enrollment goals.

Responsibilities

• Provide informational materials and counseling services for prospective students and provide appropriate contact and follow-up.
• Assist students through all aspects of the admissions process including the collection, evaluation and distribution of documents and information related to their admissions file.
• Responsible for achieving recruitment goals for assigned territories.
• Primary responsibility for recruitment travel within assigned territory by representing the university at graduate and pre-health fairs and conducting on-site presentations for prospective students and/or advisors.
• Assist in the coordination of campus outreach, virtual events and special events.
• Conduct individual campus visits tours for prospective students and their guests.
• Represent NUHS at health advisor association conferences and other functions as requested.
• Maintain consistent communication with advisors at in-state and out-of-state feeder colleges and universities to strengthen relationships and referral networks.
• Maintain and manage student files accurately and confidentially in accordance with university policies and compliance standards.
• Perform any other tasks, responsibilities, or projects as needed to support the success of the admissions office and university initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree.
• 1-2 years professional experience
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Public speaking ability.
• Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and vehicle.

Salary: $45,000
