Eric Brennan, DC
As an
undergraduate student, Dr. Eric Brennan ('14) was torn between
becoming an osteopathic physician or a chiropractic physician. He
was lucky to have neighbors in both professions. After shadowing
both, he knew chiropractic medicine was the right choice. "I loved
the fact that they were treating the whole person, not just the
malady itself," he says.
"An alumnus told me that National University provided a first
class education and that he highly recommended the school. I
elected to do the Florida
program because of my sports medicine background. They have
some amazing
sports medicine networking there that interested me," he
says.
"My NUHS education as a primary care doctor has helped me
communicate with other healthcare providers and know how to
co-manage all types of conditions. I love the integrative medicine
approach. In the Florida program, you are in regular communication
with nearby nursing and physician assistant students. We were able
to begin great relationships with other healthcare
professionals."
While at NUHS, Dr. Brennan also completed an internship rotation
at
Bay Pines VA Healthcare System. "It allowed me to see cases
that I will probably never see again. It was amazing to work in a
hospital setting where all the doctors, no matter the specialty,
were there for one cause: the veterans."
After graduation he joined an existing practice in his hometown,
the King of Prussia Family
Wellness Center. "Our practice is a little different as it has
a division for prenatal and postpartum chiropractic care, so the
majority of our patients are pregnant," says Dr. Brennan.
"We have a great relationship with the OBGYNs and midwifes in
the area, and receive many referrals for mothers to be that suffer
from low back pain and other musculoskeletal problems. We also see
many infants for latching issues and torticollis."
"Most of my classmates at NUHS-Florida thought that I would
focus on sports chiropractic and so did I. However, I found out
that my true passion was working with pregnancy and helping to make
it what it is supposed to be, a time of joy, not pain," says Dr.
Brennan.
Summing up chiropractic medicine as a great career, he says:
"Chiropractic changes lives in a very quiet way. You are able to
help someone get back to work, be able to play with their kids, be
able to hang out with their spouse without horrible pain. We are
able to help people get back to a lifestyle that they thought would
never be possible again! Chiropractic medicine needs more attention
and the world needs to better understand how we can help them."
