Graphic Designer

Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Marketing and Communications, the graphic designer produces art and copy layouts for various internal and external print and electronic communication materials. The graphic designer should be able to take direction from written or spoken ideas and convert them seamlessly to images, layouts, and designs.  Includes designing and producing print and electronic publications, advertisements, direct mail, fliers, banners, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Create original artwork for various print and digital marketing materials, including brochures, posters, display ads, direct mail, banners, infographics, etc.
  • Design and produce print and electronic publications (digital Alumnus and NUHS magazine).
  • Work with outside printer to set up and proof print projects as needed.
  • Support the printing and design requirements of other University departments.
  • Create artwork and manage deployment of communication on internal TV monitors.
  • Provide design support for outside vendors as needed.
  • Maintain image resource files for design, photography, artwork, video, etc.
  • Work with support staff to ensure successful operation of department equipment (i.e. printer, laminator, duplo, etc.) by completing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting malfunctions, calling for repairs, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Design or related discipline
  • 1-2 years related experience and/or training
  • Working knowledge of Adobe suite, including, In-design, Illustrator, Photoshop, Flash
  • Experience with digital magazine publishing and hosting platform, such as Joomag
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail
