Services for Alumni
Books
You may request books via interlibrary loan through your
local library. We will provide any books that are not in demand by
NUHS students, faculty, or staff. If you live in the Chicagoland
area, you may be eligible for limited check-out privileges. Call us
at 630-889-6612 for more information.
Computers
Computers are only available for current students.
Photocopies
We can provide photocopies of articles available in the LRC
collection. You will usually receive your photocopies
within 1-4 weeks. For fastest service, supply us with complete
and accurate information, including the authors' names, article
title, journal title, journal volume and issue number, date, pages,
and the source of your information. If you have a MEDLINE/PUBMED
search, the UI/PMID number is also useful. Illegible or incomplete
requests will be delayed or returned unfilled. Please limit
your requests to no more than 5 articles at a time. Requests
should be emailed to interlibraryloan@nuhs.edu or
faxed to 630-495-6658. There is a fee of $10 per article.
Research Assistance
Our librarians will search specialized books, journals, and
computerized databases to find the information you want. Please
provide us with a specific description of your topic, years,
and languages to be searched, and any limitations (chiropractic or
medical, human or animal, English only, etc.). Please refer to Fee
Schedule for costs associated with this service.

Circulation Privileges
Check-out privileges are available to residents of Illinois only. All non-student patrons must register for an Outside Patron member card (registration is free). Contact an LRC Circulation staff member to request a card. Anyone can request an item by interlibrary loan through their local library without the need for an Outside Patron card.

Reference Collection
The Reference Collection includes reference books,
indexes, college catalogs, yearbooks, phone books, product
catalogs, and maps.
Reserve Collection
The Reserve Collection includes reserve books, class notes,
folders, reserve audiovisual programs (including CD-ROMs and DVDs),
anatomical models, and bone boxes. Information on chiropractic,
naturopathic, and massage therapy board exams and state licensure
laws is also on reserve.
Special Collection
The special collection includes material of historical
significance and is located in the locked section behind the
Reference area.
