
In four convenient evening classes, you can earn fundamental principles and hands-on techniques you can use to give a great massage to friends and loved ones. You'll also tap into the anatomy, health sciences and terminology professional massage therapists need to know. In this course, you'll learn what it takes to start a career as a massage therapist, and experience the benefits of massage first-hand. This gateway course can be taken on its own, or as an entry into the full massage therapy certification program or A.A.S. degree in massage therapy.
All evening classes meet from 6pm - 10pm. Courses are held on the following dates:

- Cost for four-evening class: $90.00
- No books required. Students will receive handouts for all course content.
- Although you'll be practicing massage, bring paper and a pen for taking notes. the final class will include a written exam as well as a massage exam.
- Students are to bring a clean twin sheet set (flat and fitted sheets plus a pillow case). A small blanket is optional for those who chill easily.
- Be sure to wear comfortable sneakers and massage-appropriate clothing. Loose fitting, casual and comfortable clothes are best, with no belts or buckles. Slacks with elastic waistbands are ideal. The back must be easily and fully exposed (women should wear shirts, bras and bikini tops that can open from the back -- wearing your shirt backwards is okay!)
- Students must purchase "Biotone" (professional massage cream) and bring their Biotone to class. Oil or other lotion may not be used on NUHS tables. Biotone can be purchased in the NUHS bookstore prior to the first day of class.
- Course material will cover a wide variety of massage techniques, anatomy, ethical and legal issues, boundaries, hygiene, contraindications, massage terminology, table management, traits of a massage therapist, benefits of massage, and much more.
After successfully completing this course, you may choose to enroll in either NUHS' massage therapy certification program or A.A.S. degree in massage therapy program. You will receive a waiver of the standard $55 application fee. However, you will be required to complete a comprehensive admission form for acceptance. For more information, call 630-889-6577.
