One of the prime reasons to choose NUHS for your education is LOCATION! National is situated in the best of both worlds - the comfortable suburban village of Lombard and a short drive from the exciting urban offerings of Chicago.
CHICAGO - My Kind of Town!
Cultural, historic, architectural, athletic and entertainment options are just minutes away when you are looking for a break from the rigors of class and study. In addition to the theatre, dining, shopping and nightlife you'd expect form a world-class city,Chicago offers many unique enjoyments:
- Lakefront - Runners, cyclists, rollerbladers, dog-walkers, pedestrians, sightseers, swimmers, sun worshippers boaters and sports teams! There's a place for everyone on Chicago's lakefront. Be sure to visit the jewel of Chicago's lakefront, the 50-acre Navy Pier, which offers an assortment of parks, gardens, shops, restaurants and attractions including the Shakespeare Theater, Omnimax Theater, Chicao Children's Museum, 15-story ferris wheel and musical carousel, dinner and cruise boats, outdoor entertainment stages and special events held year-round.
- Museums - Chicago is home to dozens of museums, including the Chicago Art Institute, the Field Museum of Natural History, the Museum of Science and Industry, and Adler Planetarium and Astronomy Museum. There are also several smaller and special interest museums like the Museum of Broadcast Communications, the Museum of Contemporary Art, and the DuSable Museum of African American History.
- Sports - Sports lovers can find plenty of action year round, since Chicago boasts seven professional sports teams, including the Chicago Bears, the Chicago Fire soccer team, the Chicago Bulls. Baseball lovers will have to choose sides between the Cubs or White Sox, and hockey fans can enjoy the Blackhawks or the Wolves. In addition, sporting events at four area colleges - DePaul University, Loyola University, Northwestern University and University of Illinois at Chicago - are open to the public.

NUHS' 35 acre campus is in the heart of suburban Lombard, a quiet, safe, family-oriented suburb. Lombard is known as the "Lilac Village" and welcomes thousands of visitors each year for its two-week "Lilac Time" celebration. Lilacia Park, in the center of historic downtown Lombard is an 8.5 acre park that boasts 200 fragrant varieties of Lilac bushes and 75,000 tulips and spring flowers that offer a floral extravaganza every spring.
Our campus is convenient to Yorktown Center, an enclosed 30-acre shopping mall. Students can also enjoy a movie at an 18-plex cinema, or dine and dance at several restaurant and entertainment establishments nearby, or visit the local roller skating rink or whirly ball court.
