Chiropractic is the largest of the alternative health care professions, and demand for chiropractic practitioners is increasing in the U.S. and around the world.
At National, you will train to become a chiropractic physician—a primary-care, first-contact physician who uses a conservative, holistic approach to patient care. The chiropractic physician:
- treats, corrects, and prevents neurological, skeletal, or soft tissue dysfunction by employing spinal and other articular adjustments and manipulations;
- uses other conservative means for promoting wellness, including: nutritional counseling, physiologic therapeutics, meridian therapy/acupuncture, trigger point therapy, exercise, lifestyle counseling, botanical medicine, homeopathic remedies, emotional support, and stress management;
- facilitates the inherent potential of the human organism to develop and maintain a state of self-regulation;
- focuses on the importance of the doctor-patient relationship;
- recognizes the need for other forms of therapy when indicated; and
- interacts fully with other members of the health care delivery team, always in the best interest of the patient.
