COMPUTERS
Computers for word processing and instructional programs are in the alcoves south of the photocopiers. Computers for database searching are available near the reference desk. Computers for Internet searching are in both locations. Printing costs ten cents per page for outside patrons.
The NUHS Journal Holdings List lists the journals received by the LRC and their locations. Copies are available on the index tables, at the reference computers and at the circulation desk. If the LRC does not have the journal article or book that you need, ask the LRC staff for assistance. Interlibrary loan service (borrowing from other libraries) is available, as well as directions to nearby libraries that have the material that you need.
In addition A-to-Z manages our electronic journals. It provies users with a single, comprehensive online list of almost 10,000 titles we have access to. Users can search for journals by keyword or browse an alphabetical list by title or subject.
You can reserve group study rooms for groups of three or more at the circulation desk. One or two people can use a room, but groups with reservations have priority (i.e. you can be bumped out of a room).
Can't find one of our books, journals or AV programs? You can fill out or download a hold form and fax or bring it to the circulation desk. The LRC staff will locate the material and notify you when it is available.
MICROFILM
The microfilm reader/printers are west of the photocopiers. The LRC keeps many journals on microfilm. The microfilm is stored in the beige cabinets between the reader/printers and photocopiers.
Copies of reserve materials and computer programs, the University Bulletin, the student directory, etc. are available at the circulation desk.
Photocopiers are to the right as you enter the LRC. They use copy cards (available from a machine in the photocopier area). Letter-size copies cost 6 cents. You are responsible for observing Federal copyright law. Please help maintain the copiers in good condition by keeping staples away from the copiers and by closing the lids gently.
The Radiological Learning Laboratory is available for viewing X-rays. Group study rooms also have X-ray view boxes. Ask for X-ray packets at the circulation desk.
Do you know a good book or AV program that the LRC doesn't own? Recommend it for purchase by filling out a recommendation form at the circulation desk. We will try to purchase it if funds are available.
The LRC faculty and staff can help you use the LRC. Contact the reference librarian or the student assistant if you wish to schedule in-depth instruction for yourself or a group (e.g. how to search a database, how to do word processing).
