Advanced Standing

Advanced Standing

The College may consider awarding advanced standing for credits completed at a previously attended institution where these credits are germane and equivalent to the credits of the curriculum of a degree program at National University of Health Sciences. Students interested in having their transcripts evaluated for advanced standing credit should forward the relevant transcripts along with an application for admission to the Office of Admissions. Determination of advanced standing credit will be made by the appropriate faculty and Academic Dean prior to entry into the academic program.

Credit by Proficiency Examination

The following rules apply:

1.) No more than 20 semester hours, or the equivalent, of a candidate's preprofessional education can be acquired through institutional proficiency exams or challenging courses such as the College Level Examination Program (CLEP), Defense Action for Non-Traditional Educational Support (DANTES), American College Testing Program (ACT), Program Evaluation Procedure (PEP), New York Board of Regents College Examinations, or through challenge courses.

2.) Such equivalence will only be acceptable if the applicant has had certification of the credits by an institution accredited at the college level by an accrediting organization that is listed as nationally recognized by the Secretary of Education of the U.S. Department of Education.
