Dr. Prakash Now Section Councilor for APHA

Prakash Jaya _200Jaya Prakash, MD, MPH, and a professor at National University's Florida campus, was recently appointed to a two-year term as Section Councilor for the International Health Section of the American Public Health Association.

The American Public Health Association is the oldest organization of public health professionals in the world and has been working to improve public health since 1872. APHA represents a broad array of health professionals and others who care about their own health and the health of their communities.

 

The International Health Section was founded in 1976 to provide leadership and a focus on international public health issues within APHA. It is one of 27 discipline-based sections, with 9000 members representing from 128 countries.

The Section is an active community of international health professionals engaged in networking, policy development, and sharing scientific knowledge and experience with peers as well as advocacy and public education.

Dr. Prakash has been active in the International Health section and Global Health Connections committee for several years, and also served as a chair of Global Health Expertise directory group.  At NUHS, she currently teaches microbiology and pathology.
