Professor, Basic Sciences
Dr. Christiansen has been with the university for over 30 years, serving as the chairman of the former department of physiology and biochemistry for over 10 of those years. He received his bachelor's degree from Roosevelt University in Chicago, and went on for a master's degree University of Illinois at Chicago, and then to University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign for his Ph.D. He did postgraduate work at the Scripps Institute of Marine Biology in La Jolla, California before coming to National.
At NUHS, Dr. Christiansen has taught biochemistry, cell biology, immunology, gastrointestinal and endocrine physiology as well as renal physiology. His research publications are in enzymology and the use of thermography in clinical diagnosis. He loves to attend the theatre and the opera.
